ISSUES
Healthcare Reform
I’ve had a front-row seat to the decline of our healthcare system due to constant pain, worsened by treatment, due to a car accident 20 years ago. This is why I advocate for change.
• Putting patients first
• Removing the federal government from the doctor-patient relationship
• Restoring civilian oversight of health-related Federal agencies
• Restoring treatment options for patients

Support for Veterans
Veterans have been asked bear a tremendous burden. It’s time to give them the healthcare and mental health support they have earned defending our freedom.
• VA reform and additional options for mental health services, doctor choice, and PTSD treatment
• Improving benefit delivery
• Ensuring job protection for reservists during training and activation

Education
Education is the most significant investment we can make in our future. We need to focus on improving our public schools.
• All children are different: more focus on educational and emotional outcomes, less focus on data
• Improved funding for rural schools. All children should have a quality public education regardless of where they live
• Increased support for mental and emotional health.
• Increased support for Career and Technical Education
• Exploration of ways to make college educations more affordable with less student debt

Border Security
Since the first European settlers arrived in the 1600s, the United States has been a nation of immigrants. We are all – if we go back far enough – from somewhere else. The tide of humanity to our shores and land borders seeking opportunity and a better life for their children has never been still and will never cease.
• Secure borders and increased funding for our border patrol professionals
• Immigration laws and enforcement that treat all with dignity and do not divide families
• A foreign policy that addresses the root cause of our southern border challenges: drug-cartel fueled violence and lack of opportunity in Mexico and Central America. These countries share our values and have democratically-elected governments. It is in the strategic interest of the United States for our next-door neighbors to be secure and prosperous

Fiscal Responsibility
We must face the issue of fiscal responsibility head on. In the last 75 years alone, Americans worked together to win World War Two, rebuild Europe, put man on the moon and win the Cold War. No challenge is too big for us when we put politics aside and work together.
• Appointment of a bipartisan taskforce of experts from the private and public sectors to develop solutions to our budget deficits and skyrocketing national debt.

Every Life is Sacred
Nothing is a surprise to God and every life is sacred and meaningful. However, being pro-life is more than just a slogan. It requires empathy and a long-term commitment to meaningful action.
• Policies and funding that make it much easier for a mother to keep her child and be a successful parent
• More support for child service, foster care and adoption agencies

A Just Judiciary
The judiciary is no place for politics. It is the rule of law, and our respect for it, that has been the bulwark of our country’s stability for over 200 years.
• Support judicial nominees that put the constitution above all else, are non-partisan and have a track record of tremendous integrity and wisdom.

The Second Amendment
I have fond memories as a young teenager exploring the hollows near my grandfather’s home in Sullivan County and plinking rusty cans. I’ve acquired a few more firearms over the years and am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment.
• Policies that address the root cause of gun violence: the breakdown of our families and an entertainment and gaming industry that too-often glorify gun use without depicting the horrific consequences.

Term Limits
Lobbyists and special interest groups have unduly influenced Congress for too long! They are also a contributing factor to our deficit spending. Term limits help prevent our elected representatives from becoming professional politicians: out-of-touch insiders who use their position to amass wealth and power.
• I support term limits for members of congress to break the power of lobbyists and special interest groups and help keep our elected representatives focused on what's best for our country -- not their next campaign.
